Golf fans who travelled to watch the World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship were given some advice about their golf apparel before attending.

Writing for the Tucson Citizen, B Poole details some of the tips given by veteran fans of the game.

Jim Vavra, 60, from Oro Valley, told the source that wearing a good hat and decent shoes was essential when going to watch a golf tournament.

The newspaper notes that as some courses can be some miles long, sturdy shoes are a must.

Talking about the course where the championship took place, it says: "The course is 7,800 yards long from start to finish - which is a little more than five miles. Plan to walk much more if you are roving the course."

Golf fans who like to take to the course as well as watch games could find golf shoes a wise investment to keep them playing at their best.
