Past Ryder Cup outfits have been criticised by a golf fashion punditRyder Cup team uniforms from years gone by have become the latest target of a golf apparel pundit.

The PGA Tour's golf fashion insider The Man In The Black Hat took a look at 2002's Ryder Cup uniform for the US team and noted that the lack of logos for team members Phil Mickelson, Mark Calcavecchia and David Toms made them stand out.

He also poked fun at the 1999 team's shirts, which featured a garish collage of past Ryder Cup winning teams.

"The Man In The Black Hat appreciates any sentiment that honours history, but next time, let's keep the photos neatly in the album where they belong," he said.

Meanwhile, fellow golf fashion blogger the Khaki Crusader has spent his time in the lead-up to the Ryder Cup touring the 2010 course taking a look at the fashion offerings of the event's spectators.

The Man In The Black Hat also went on to ridicule the golf apparel efforts of the 1961 US team, who sported clothing akin to a milkman's uniform.
