Golf fashion insider explores growing 'souvenir' trendThe PGA's golf fashion insider has used the example of Rocco Mediate to emphasise the growing trend towards 'souvenir' items of golf apparel.

The Man in the Black Hat claimed that Mediate and his caddy Matthew Achatz were akin to Paul Giamatti and Thomas Hayden Church in the movie Sideways at the Frys.com Open this week.

"Mediate and Achatz have been taking a journey of their own, one that has led Mediate to rediscover his game," he said.

Comparing the 47-year-old's golf fashion to that of a lone amateur, the Man in the Black Hat said Mediate looked "completely comfortable" in his souvenir half-sleeved US Open rain shirt.

The Man in the Black Hat went on to state that the trend towards souvenir-wear seems to be "all the rage" and pointed to the recent golf apparel of the US 2010 Ryder Cup team.

In a previous blog post, the golf fashion insider examined the golf clothing of US professional Charley Hoffman.
