Some questionable golf fashion decisions present no obstacle to Phil Mickelson defeating his opponents, according to The Golf Channel. The publication notes that nay-sayers have singled out Mickelson for criticism based on his golf fashion choices.
For instance, one critic named only as Greg comments: "I believe that Phil has a serious wardrobe malfunction that began at the end of last season."
Greg adds that recent golf fashion choices made by the player have included an "absolutely atrocious" white belt.
This follows from him developing a penchant for tight golf shirts in the previous season.
But Golf Channel columnist Brian Hewitt responds: "He could have a bad year and win twice just on talent alone."
Mickelson was recently listed by the Irish Times alongside other golfers such as Ernie Els, Vijay Singh and Padraig Harrington as being some of the sport's biggest earners from sponsorship.
Said to come second only to names such as Tiger Woods, the sponsorship deals for such players' golf equipment were placed in the millions.
