Flamboyant Englishman and golf fashion lover Ian Poulter has been named as the European Tour's Golfer of the Month for February.The accolade comes after he defeated Paul Casey in the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship final at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Arizona, US, giving him his first victory on American soil.
He also beat Adam Scott, Jason Leonard, Jeev Milkha Singh and Thongchai Jaidee on his way to success.
It moved him up to fifth place in the Official World Golf rankings, which he said proves he is more than just someone who wears interesting golf apparel.
He commented after his win: "I guess five in the world stands for more than just what I wear on the golf course."
Poulter explained that he is delighted to be recognised with the award and that it caps off an outstanding couple of weeks for him.
