A golf fashion writer has bid farewell to the golf clothing trend of giant belt buckles.Writing in his golf fashion blog, the Khaki Crusader pointed to the examples of recent event victors Jonathan Byrd, who won the Justin Timberlake Shriner's Hospital for Children Open and Castello Masters winner Matteo Manassero.
He noted that both players had opted for stylish golf apparel in the form of subdued belt buckles and expressed his hopes that this would "put an exclamation point" on the giant buckle trend.
"Nearly every brand on the market makes a large, logo-emblazoned buckle for their tour players to wear," said the Khaki Crusader. "Golf is becoming Nascar."
He went on to predict that the golf apparel trend was likely to "kick around" for a decade longer than it should and claimed that giant buckles have not been "palatable" since 2008.
In a previous blog post, the Khaki Crusader expressed appreciation for Ryder Cup players who took the opportunity to ditch their branded golf caps for the event.
