Golf fashion writer examines sporting apparel crossover
Published: 20 October 2010
A golf fashion writer has looked at the increasing influence of clothing from other sports on golf apparel.Writing in his golf blog, golf fashion critic the Khaki Crusader noted that influences from rugby and football have been "making waves" in the world of golf clothing.
He said the trend has snowballed, with two well-known sports clothing companies both unveiling plans to release a limited run of soccer-influenced polos for their golf apparel lines.
The Khaki Crusader also pointed to professional golfers as evidence, noting Sergio Garcia's choice to wear his country's jersey at the Open Championship.
However, he was uncertain as to whether US golf fans would take up the trend.
"Now, I know Euros are obsessed with 'futbol', but are readers from the US of A going to buy into these team-sport inspired pieces for the golf course?" he said.
In a previous blog post the Khaki Crusader defended the golf apparel decisions of the 2010 US Ryder Cup team.
