Published: 15 December 2009
The president of the Algerian Golf Federation has made a trip to the world-famous St Andrews golf course to meet with representatives from the R&A.Last week (December 11th), Noureddine Djoudi headed to the Scottish course to discuss how the game can be developed in Algeria, a trip which could have seen him invest in some new items of golf apparel.
On his visit, he met with director of golf development at the R&A Duncan Weir, who said: "Algeria is the second-largest country in Africa and yet has only one course. However, we hope that our support of golf there may help to change this situation."
At the meeting, several ideas were discussed, including the R&A donating golf accessories and junior golf equipment to the Algerian Golf Federation.
To further strengthen ties, two competitors will be sent from Algeria to Scotland to don their golf clothing and hit the course for the Junior Open Championships at the Lundin Golf Club in the country.
