Golf news: Amateur golfer puts to victory in crazy golf tournament.
Published: 29 October 2009
Amateur golfer Keith Kellard is celebrating after he donned his golf apparel and took to the course for a crazy golf tournament. According to the Herts and Essex Observer, the IT worker is now "an unlikely international sports star" after playing to victory in the World Crazy Golf Championships.
He pulled on his golf clothing and won the event, which took place in Hastings, over the weekend and during this week, has made guest appearances on Sky Sports News and news channel CNN.
The newspaper reported that Mr Kellard first entered a golf event back in 2003 "with disastrous results".
Mr Kellard was playing against 83 other golfers in the crazy golf championships, including competitors who packed up their golf apparel and came all the way from Finland and the Czech Republic.
"I wasn't in a comfortable position by any means. In the final round, the rules change - you have all the balls on the course at once, which means you can be knocked out of the way or trapped by another player at any time," he told the source.
