2016 Olympics to feature golf The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has voted to include golf in the Olympic Games, it has been announced.

The golf news will see the sport included in the Olympics for the first time in 112 years.

Golf, along with rugby sevens, will now be a feature of the sporting event, after beating sports including softball, baseball, squash, karate and roller sports to the honour.

Now that the IOC has made the recommendations, the full meeting of the group, set to take place in October, will officially add golf to the Olympic line-up for 2016.

Writing in a blog for the Guardian, Laurence Donegan noted the views of Ty Votaw, who works for the PGA Tour.

He said that the "values and ethos" of golf are "complimentary and consistent" to those held by the Olympics.

As well as this, the inclusion of golf in the Olympics could draw an even bigger audience to the games, Mr Votaw noted.
