The secret to playing golf well could lie in golf accessories, it has been pointed out.

Writer and keen amateur golfer Mark Reason has paid a visit to a golf firm which specialises in making sure golfers are using the right golf accessories to play well.

Mr Reason notes that after his visit, he realised that he has been donning his golf clothing and taking to the golf course in the wrong apparel "for years".

After being properly "fitted" for a new set of golf clubs, Mr Reason said the results on his golf game were astounding.

The golfer wrote that he had been playing with golf clubs made by the same brand for 25 years.

"Most of us amateurs grab a few sets of clubs off the shelf, hit a few balls and buy the one we like best," he noted.

To be fitted for his new clubs, Mr Reason visited the World of Golf in Sidcup, where representatives from golf club firm Ping took a number of measurements, including the distance from his fingertips to the floor.

Meanwhile, it is looking increasingly likely that golf is to be included in the 2016 Summer Games, as the International Olympic Committee continues to discuss which two sports will be added to the agenda for the event.
