Golf news: Great Britain and Ireland team tee off to victoryGreat Britain and Ireland have won the Vivendi Trophy for the fifth time in a row after beating the Continental Europe team.

The team was helped to victory by Rory McIllroy's defeat of Henrik Stenson and Graeme McDowell's victory over Robert Karlsson.

Commenting on the loss, Stenson said: "I think I proved to be a worthy opponent to Rory - he's playing fantastic. I would expect him to be on the squad next year."

McDowell said that the Great Britain and Ireland team "played some phenomenal golf" and called the win a "sweet victory".

The golf-apparel clad Great Britain and Ireland team eventually won the trophy with seven singles matches still to play at the tournament, which took place yesterday (September 27th) in Paris.

However, it was Continental Europe team member Dane Anders Hansen who was most impressive when he donned his golf clothing and took to the course, securing a ten under par for 12 holes.
