Golf news: Luke Donald has received yet another award.

The accolades keep rolling in for golf apparel wearer Luke Donald, as he has become the first Englishman to be voted the US PGA Tour Player of the Year.

Just days after the 34-year-old made history by becoming the first golfer to win both the US and European money lists in one year, it was announced that Donald had finished ahead of the likes of Keegan Bradley and Bill Haas in the player poll.

Donald said it is very special to be the first Englishman to earn the accolade and described it as his greatest achievement in 2011.

He noted the win is "a great honour to cap off what has obviously been an amazing year for me. It's not easy to be a member of both Tours and do what I've done".

The world number one - who turned professional in 2001 - added his consistency, coupled with winning the money lists and the stroke average, played a big part in his victory.
