Rory McIllroy has moved into ninth place in the worldwide golf ranking, making him the highest ever ranking 20-year-old.McIllroy has had a successful year and finished in the top five four times during tournaments he took part in last month.
His move up the table from eleventh to ninth sees him take the place of the highest ever ranking 20-year-old, which was previously Sergio Garcia, a golfer who secured tenth place in the ranking back in 2000.
Tiger Woods is still ranked as the world's best golfer and has spent 236 weeks at the top of the chart, with Phil Michelson second and Steve Stricker coming in third.
The BBC Golf site noted that since Rory McIllroy donned his golf apparel and turned professional two years ago, his rise in the sport has been "meteoric".
After his move up the table, Sergio Garcia is now ranked eleventh and Kenny Perry is tenth.
