Golf news: World Cup of Golf kicks off

The first round of the World Cup of Golf has kicked off at the Mission Hills Golf Club today (November 26th), with the Irish team taking an early lead.Irish players Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell are now three stokes ahead of the Argentinean team after scooping a round of 58.
Tano Goya and Rafael Echenique, playing together to represent Argentina, donned their golf apparel and shot 11-under-61 and the Japanese team finished the first round of the event one shot behind.
On certain rounds of the tournament, players of the two-men teams take alternate shots, with other rounds played on a "better-ball structure".
English golfer Ian Poulter, who is well known for his interesting taste in golf apparel, is also taking part in the event, which has a prize pot of some $5.5 million.
Commenting on the lead, McIlroy said: "We got off to a great start and from there we kept it going and birdied the holes other teams weren't getting birdies on."
