Published: 29 July 2009
Phil Mickelson is set to put on his golf apparel and tee off at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio next week. The tournament will be Mickelson's first event since he came second in the US Open in June.
He has been away from the professional field for some time over recent weeks, as both his wife Amy and mother Mary are battling breast cancer.
Amy was diagnosed with the illness in May of this year and since then, Mickelson has only taken to the course twice.
Mickelson has played in all ten of the previous Bridgestone Invitational's and came second in 1999.
The event is to be held at the Firestone Country Club in Akron between August 6th and 9th and hopes to attract many golf apparel-clad spectators to cheer the golfers on.
Mickelson, who is currently ranked second in the world, is nicknamed Lefty as he plays with a left-handed swing, despite actually being right handed.
