Phil Mickelson has made the golf news by announcing that Pebble Beach is one of his favourite venues on the whole PGA Tour.The world number three is currently participating in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the famous Californian resort and told the press after his first round that he loves playing there.
Pebble Beach has hosted a number of prestigious events in its 85-year history.
This year's US Open championship is set to take place there from June 14th to 20th.
He said: "I think Mike Strantz did a great job in his design of the bunkering, the greens, the holes, the layout, the playable of it. It's really a wonderful track."
The American is currently tied for 42nd place after his opening round of 68.
However, he expressed his disappointment at the two-under-par total following the opening 18 holes, citing his poor putting as the reason for his performance.
