Golf apparel clad golfers helped in the sport by trust.

A Ryder Cup-backed golf trust is helping to finance development in European Golf, it has been noted.

According to the R&A St Andrews, the Ryder Cup European Development Trust has allowed the development of a wide range of golfing projects in a total of seven countries.

With the help of the fund, young golfers have been given the opportunity to hit the course in their golf apparel in countries such as Ireland and Bulgaria, the source noted.

Foundations including the Faldo Series Russia Championship and the Paul Lawrie Foundation have also been given cash by the Ryder Cup fund.

"The Trust is in a strong position to help golf's growth throughout Europe and has already made an impact in several countries in a short space of time," said director of golf development at the R&A Duncan Weir.

This year's Ryder Cup is set to take place between October 1st and 3rd.
