Charl Schwartzel made the golf news headlines yesterday (January 17th), after winning the Joburg Open clad in all-black golf clothing at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington's East Course. The victory meant the South African notched his second win in as many weeks on home soil after shooting a 23-under-par 261 ahead, six strokes ahead of Darren Clarke and Keith Horne, who tied for second place.
Schwartzel had previously triumphed in the Africa Open by a one-shot margin.
He explained that he now hopes the win will give him the chance to play in this year's Masters.
'I played pretty much flawless golf and I don't know what it comes down to - maybe a good positive frame of mind when you hit a bad shot,' he added.
The event was also a successful one for Scottish golfers, with Peter Whiteford breaking into the top ten and tying for sixth place after carding a 12-under 272.
In addition, Andrew McArthur and Alan McLean both made the cut for the fourth round.
