Golfer made honorary member of clubGolfer Seve Ballesteros - who has scooped the top prize in the Open three times - could be donning his golf apparel and heading to the golf courses of Scotland soon after being made an honorary member of the Royal and Ancient Club of St Andrews.

Other people who have been given the title of honorary members of the club include Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, the Duke of York and Duke of Edinburgh.

Commenting on the honour, 52-year-old Ballesteros said: "I have had, perhaps, the outstanding moment of my career at St Andrews (his second Claret Jug in 1984 when he birdied the last) and the town will always retain a very special place close to my heart."

Ballesteros - who also has two Masters titles under his belt - has once again donned his golf apparel and returned to the golf course after having four operations as part of treatment for a brain tumour.
