Denmark's Thomas Bjorn will lead the continental Europe team against Ireland's Paul McGinley and his team in a biennial match inaugurated by Spanish veteran Severiano Ballesteros. The Vivendi Trophy with Severiano Ballesteros is scheduled to be played over four days starting on September 24th at a course on the edge of Paris - the St-Nom-la-Breteche.
While this event is held every two years, another tournament will be held in the alternate years. This will be the Vivendi Celebrity Trophy - an event with a pro-am format.
Seve Ballesteros captained the continental Europe team two years ago, and lost to a team led by Nick Faldo.
The Spanish legend has since undergone a number of operations on a brain tumour and is still receiving treatment for this condition.
Both this year's captains played on the same team in the Ryder Cup tournament in 2002 but will now be pitted against each other.
