A number of golf bodies have announced they are joining forces to help UK golf clubs to deal with how to run a modern-day golf centre. The Professional Golfers' Association (PGA), Golf Club Managers' Association and the British and International Golf Greenkeepers' Association (BIGGA), are teaming up to give advice to golf clubs which may be struggling.
As the recession continues in the UK, golf clubs may be finding it difficult to tempt people to don their golf apparel and take to the course, as people try and cut back their spending.
In total, the membership of the three bodies is 16,000.
Clubs will be given tips on how to operate efficiently, to try and ensure that they stay afloat during the economic downturn.
John Pemberton, chief executive of BIGGA, said that the alliance will do a lot of good in the industry and that the move "presents some exciting opportunities".
PGA chief executive Sandy Jones told Golf Business News that the "momentous decision" by the three bodies to link up shows that all involved have a desire to work together and establish close connections.
