Golf news: Billionaire speaks out over golf course
Published: 24 November 2009
Billionaire businessman Donald Trump has spoken out over a man whose refusal to sell his property and land is holding up the creation of a billion pound golf resort in Scotland.Michael Forbes owns a cottage which is on land which Trump wishes to buy to create a 2,000 acre golfing complex including hotels, a golf school, holiday villas and two golf courses for people to head to in their golf clothing.
Mr Forbes has put forward legal proceedings against the creation of the course, as has his mother Molly, who lives in a static caravan near to her son's home.
Now, Trump has issued a statement against the man who the Guardian noted is his "most famous opponent", calling his home an "environmental hazard" and a bad representation of Scotland and its people.
However, under Scottish planning law, councils can give outline planning permission to Trump even though he does not own the land he wishes to develop on.
