Published: 09 November 2009
World number one Tiger Woods has packed up his golf clothing and arrived in Melbourne ahead of the Australian Masters, which is due to begin on Thursday (November 12th).The tournament will see Woods donning his golf apparel and taking to the golf course in Australia for the first time in 11 years.
The event will be held at the Kingston Heath course.
He has played in Australia three times and last appeared in the 1998 Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne, aged 21.
The golfer's decision to pack his golf apparel and head to Australia has attracted much attention from the media and avid fans of Woods and has led to the organisers of the Australian Masters putting a ban on the use of mobile phones during the event to make sure that golfers are not distracted.
Commenting on the event, Woods said: "All of the courses that I've seen down there in Melbourne, I've always loved the bunkering, some of the best bunkering in the world. From what the guys have said so far to me, Kingston Heath is no different."
