Golf news: Woods urged to play Celtic Manor

Tiger Woods has been urged to play Celtic Manor ahead of the visit of the Ryder Cup to the venue next year.US golfing legend Arnold Palmer stated following his opening of the new Wales National Centre of Excellence at Celtic Manor that the top US golfers must travel to Wales to see the course for themselves prior to its hosting of the Ryder Cup.
Many supporters of the event might also choose to wear Ryder Cup shirts in support of the players on the tour.
Palmer told Wales Online: "The Celtic Manor is an incredible facility to stage the Ryder Cup in 2010.
"I'm sure it will produce a fantastic tournament."
Meanwhile, Sean O'Hair recently climbed to 12th in the world rankings following his win at Quail Hollow over some of the top names in the sport, including Tiger Woods and Lucas Glover.
The 26-year-old golfer is presently enjoying his highest placing in the world rankings after an excellent final day showing saw him move up from fifth at the start of the day to take the event by a single stroke.
