An Olympic committee will meet in August to decide which two sports are set to be included in the 2016 Olympic Games - and reports suggest that golf is still in with a chance of being chosen.According to an article in the Times, Olympic "insiders" are suggesting that golf and rugby sevens are the two most likely to be added to the schedule for the 2016 event.
This is because when adding new sports in the past the International Olympic Committee has aimed to include one sport that is played by individuals and one which is a team sport open to both men and women.
Commenting on the kudos which surrounds the game of golf, Times Olympic correspondent Ashling O'Connor notes "the stars and the sponsors that golf would bring to the Games will be hard to reject".
Members of the golf world are set to travel to Switzerland next week to make a presentation pushing for golf to be one of the two sports chosen.
