Golf gift could prove an ideal birthday present for an ex-golfer or fan of the sport.

Golfer Arnold Palmer has turned 80 today, which could see the two-times Open Championship winner showered with golf gifts from his friends, family and fans.

Mr Palmer won seven major championships throughout his impressive career and played in a style which the chief executive of the R&A Peter Dawson described as inspiring.

Talking to the BBC, Mr Dawson said: "Arnold is one of golf's true icons. His contribution to the growth of our game over six decades cannot be overestimated."

As well as this, he noted that Palmer is an honorary member of the R&A Golf Club, going on to say that the other members have great respect for him and his career achievements.

While Palmer may not don his golf apparel and take to the course in a professional capacity anymore, golf clothing such as a golf shirt or pair of golf shoes could still prove an ideal golf gift for his birthday.
