Golfer's success marked by Hall of Fame entry

Golfer becomes newest member of Hall of FameAmerican golfer Lanny Wadkins has become the latest golf-apparel wearing sportsman to enter the World Golf Hall of Fame, it has been announced.

Wadkins is "known for his fearless and ultra-competitive" approach to golf, notes Reuters.

He has been successful in 21 events on the PGA Tour and has played in eight Ryder Cups.

In 1995, Wadkins donned his golf apparel and took to the golf course as captain of the US Ryder Cup team.

Wadkins became the latest member of the hall of fame after being elected by a PGA Tour ballot, in which he received 61 per cent.

In a statement, Wadkins said: "I never expected to wind up in the Hall of Fame when I started playing golf. I played for the love of the game and to compete to win."
