Traditional golf clothes worn at event.
Published: 08 April 2009
Golfer Alan Tate has worn traditional golf apparel when playing at an event to see him made captain of a golf club recently, it has been reported.According to the Liverpool Daily Post, Mr Tate also used a golf club which was made 100 years ago by Open winner Jack White, when he took part in his captain's drive-in ceremony at Vicars Cross last week.
The newspaper notes that Mr Tate felt that as he was wearing traditional items of golf fashion, an old club would be in keeping with the outfit.
As well as the old golf club, which is cane-shafted, the golfer also used an antique golf ball.
His wife and two daughters were present at the ceremony, with Mr Tate praising his wife for her understanding of his love of golf, as well as his passion for football and cricket.
The newspaper recently reported on a drive-in ceremony which saw golfers dress up in Australian themed golf clothing.
