Golf news: Golfer still not giving up on winning dreamPadraig Harrington has said he has not given up on the idea of taking the number one spot on the European Tour as he prepares to get on his golf clothing and take part in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The European Tour website reported that he said: "I've got five events left to give myself a chance. I probably need to win two and a few other things to go right, but that would be the goal at the moment."

Currently, Harrington is in position 21 in the Race to Dubai standings and is more than €1 million behind the leader, German golfer Martin Kaymer.

However, Kaymer could be not be donning his golf apparel and taking to the course for some time as he is currently recovering from having surgery on a foot injury.

Harrington told the website that the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship could be one of his best chances of winning an event.

Meanwhile, the winners of the Alfred Dunhill Schools Golf Challenge were recently given their prizes in a star-studded ceremony with film star Hugh Grant in attendance.
