Golf pro makes a golf footwear change ahead of new season.Professional golfer Padraig Harrington will no longer wear Hi-Tec golf shoes when teeing off in the future.

The player, currently ranked third in the world, has signed a deal with Footjoy.

According to reports, it is expected that Harrington will wear the latest Footjoy shoe, the SYNR*G.

The new shoe is set to hit the shops next month.

Harrington said: "FootJoy is a brand that just about every young golfer is brought up wearing and I was no different."

He went on to comment that the SYNR*G shoe offers good support throughout the golf swing, something which is important for hitting "solid, powerful shots".

European marketing manager for Footjoy Richard Fryer said that the company was thrilled to have Harrington on board.

Mr Fryer said that he thought the golfer would be a great ambassador and bring knowledge of footwear to the table.

Harrington won the USPGA Championship last year, the first European golfer to do so since 1930.
