Flamboyant golfer Ian Poulter suggested that the media may rip into his golf fashion sense if he turned up to this week's pro competition in a kilt.

The golf fashion legend that is Ian Pouler has confirmed that he will wear tartan trousers for The Open at St Andrews.According to the Daily Mail, the player's golf trousers will feature a pattern registered with the Scottish Tartan Authority, although the publication had wondered whether the Brit would decide to wear a kilt for the competition.
It would not be a stretch of the imagination for famously flamboyant Poulter to opt for such unusual golf clothing, but he cited the reaction of the media as his reason for not doing it.
"I'd happily wear one but can you imagine all the mickey-taking I'd get from you lot?" he was quoted as saying, gesturing towards the collection of sports writers gathered in front of him.
The 139th Open Championship at the Old Course of St Andrews begins on July 15th and runs until July 18th, with a £4.8 million prize pot available to participants.
