John Daly's golf apparel is 'a massive drawcard'John Daly's golf apparel has been highlighted as one of the things that make the player so attractive to the ordinary fan.

Writing for his Everything Golf blog in the Herald-Tribune, columnist Bart Pfankuch noted that many "regular Joes", fans of the sport who drink beer and try not to take things too seriously, have a "special place" in their hearts for the player.

However, he claimed that as his career has progressed, he finds it harder to find anything worth admiring about Daly.

"The American, whose outlandish attire and booming drives have been a massive drawcard wherever he plays, has steadily slipped down the world rankings since he won the 1991 PGA Championship 1995 British Open," said Mr Pfankuch.

Despite not seeing victory in an event since 2004, the columnist observed that Daly has rarely left the headlines of the press, due to his issues with alcohol, anti-depressants, gambling and divorces.

Daly was recently named as one of the greatest obese athletes ever by the Bleacher Report.
