James Kingston chose a black theme for his golf apparel at the Iberdrola Open Cala Millor Mallorca and leads the rankings at the end of the first round. Some players may feel that black is an unusual colour to sport in such a sunny destination, but the South African showed no signs of discomfort in his black performance golf shirt and hat.
He birdied three of his last six holes to card a five-under-par 65 for the day and had to deal with some fairly windy conditions at the Pula golf course.
"It's a challenging course with tough tee shots and it's difficult to get the ball close to the hole," explained the 44-year-old, who currently sits two shots ahead of Spaniard Alvaro Velasco.
Kingston teamed his black golf ensemble with some tan golf trousers for the competition.
The next tournament on the European Tour is the BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club in the UK.
