Laura Davies found it takes more than loose-fitting ladies' golf shirts to guarantee comfort when competing at the top level.

The Ladies European Tour website reports the turbulent fortunes of Davies, who is renowned for her loose-fitting ladies' golf shirts, during the tournament.

Around the middle of her final-day round, Davies was facing a series of missed putts - while rival and eventual winner Yani Tseng sank birdie after birdie.

But Davies' luck was to worsen when one spectator, who was anything but eagle-eyed, allowed her errant ball to strike his ankle.

Had it not done so, it would have passed through an area of scrub, leaving Davies with a clear shot - but instead she was left on her knees to play a delicate tap that came up short of the target.

"I just wish he hadn't have told me - I was pretty rocked," she admits.

At a career record of played 258, won 39, Davies is still sitting on a success rate of more than 15 per cent, which many newcomers to the sport may envy.
