Phil Mickelson picked up the Masters title dressed in all-black golf apparel yesterday.Phil Mickelson got his hands on the most coveted item of golf clothing in the world yesterday (April 11th) - the Green Jacket - after winning the Masters Tournament at Augusta.

The American topped the leaderboard after shooting a course total five-under-par 272.

And he belied his conservative appearance and low-key, all-black golf clothing on the final day with some spectacular golf, including an outrageous second shot - arguably the best of the tournament - from within the trees on the par five 13th hole.

He managed to land the ball within feet of the cup with his 200-yard-plus six iron stroke.

Commenting on his win, he said: "This has been a very special day and a very special week."

Englishman Lee Westwood - dressed yesterday in white golf trousers and a red performance golf shirt - finished in second place after ending the championship three shots behind the American, while Anthony Kim rounded off the top three with a 12-under 276.
