Golf superstar Colin Montgomerie's character on and off the course is given a boost through his golf clothing, among other things, ESPN claims.

A new range of golf clothing from Colin Montgomerie is just part of the player's character - and business brand - according to ESPN.

The sports network explains that, despite not winning major titles as often as some of his peers, Monty continues to rank among the most desired stars for endorsement deals.

And his golf clothing is just one example of this, along with deals with major brands such as automobile manufacturer Lexus.

However, it is not always plain sailing for Monty's business partnerships, according to ESPN.

The network notes that, when asked if he would consider himself to be to golf as Rolls-Royce is to cars, he replied: "You mean a Lexus."

But Callaway, which previously supplied his golf caps, did not fare so well, as Monty would remove his cap if the wind ever blew.
