Golf fashion is an important part of any major tournament.

Players donning their golf apparel and taking to the golf course at the next Open Championship could be playing on one of four new courses.

The courses will be used in the qualifying stages of the 2012 British Open Championship.

Now, those trying to get through to the main event could be teeing off at Bruntsfield Links in Edinburgh, Buckinghamshire Golf Club, Moortown Golf Club in Leeds or Hankley Common course in Farnham.

Scotland has long been known for its inclement weather conditions.

Golfers planning on taking to the Bruntsfield Links course could find that golf waterproofs and an argyle golf sweater are ideal golf fashion for the green.

Previously, Moortown Golf Club has hosted the Ryder Cup.

The 2012 British Open Championship will be held at Royal Lytham and St Annes.

The Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club was founded in 1886 and has hosted ten Opens to date.
