Red golf clothing failed to inspire Tiger Woods at the 93rd PGA Championship.
Published: 15 August 2011
Tiger Woods switched round his golf apparel choices in an effort to improve his recent form for the 93rd PGA Championship, but the change was unable to boost his luck. The star, who was embroiled in a sex scandal in November 2009, sported red golf clothing on the first day of play - the colour he traditionally wore heading into the final day of competitions he hoped to win.
However, the change did not appear to work as the former World Number One hit a 77 on the day, followed by a three-over par 73 for the second round at Atlanta Athletic Club.
Woods - who has won 95 tournaments, 71 of which have been on the PGA Tour - noted he was playing with the club in a certain position, explaining: "I was doing that and I said, you know what, I'm feeling good. Let's just let it go. And it cost me the whole round."
