Paul Lawrie has maintained his leading position at the Castello Masters overnight, despite being joined by another four players in the top spot. The Glenmuir-sponsored player looked dapper in his classic golf apparel as he took the early lead in the Spanish event's first round yesterday.
However, as the second day went on he was joined in the top spot by Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Richard Finch, David Horsey and Ricardo Gonzalez.
Horsey, who has previously won the BMW International Open, experienced a brief period in the lead, following some fine form on the 11th and 13th before the turn. But the Englishman dropped a shot on the second on the way back.
Similarly, Fernandez-Castano managed a total of four birdies over the course of his first 13 holes, matching the leaders after a disappointing 68 on the event's first day.
Gonzalez has not recorded a top ten finish in a tour event since January, but the first day saw the former SAS Masters winner hit four birdies to hit the turn in 32.
