Pundit compares Sergio Garcia's golf apparel to the QueenA golf fashion pundit has compared the golf apparel of Sergio Garcia to a recent outfit worn by Queen Elizabeth II.

Writing for the Chapeau Noir blog, PGA columnist Mike McAllister claimed Garcia would have breached royal etiquette if he had turned up to the recent wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William.

The expert compared photographs of the Spaniard at the 2006 Open Championship with recent snaps of Her Royal Highness at the ceremony.

Both parties opted for a light yellow, bordering on cream, for their ensemble - although Garcia opted for a baseball cap and the Queen sported more refined headgear.

"Good thing Sergio Garcia didn't show up wearing his adidas Golf ensemble from the 2006 Open Championship at Liverpool. Disaster averted," said Mr McAllister.

This comes after US clothing retailer Mr Porter claimed that golf fashion wear is becoming increasingly influenced by current trends in the world of mainstream design.
