Bright golf clothing means people are sitting up to take notice of Rickie Fowler.

It appears a player's choice of golf apparel can play a significant role in helping him or her grab the attention of the sport's media.

This seems to be the case for young star Rickie Fowler, who is hitting the headlines as much for his outlandish golf clothing as he is for his prowess on the course.

The Province noted the youngster is turning heads with his large caps and long hairstyle, while also sporting colourful attire during the Majors.

But the 22-year-old - who first started playing golf at 14 - appears to be hoping it will soon be his performances with the clubs that are getting him noticed.

He said he continues to be "on the cusp" of finishing where he would like to be, adding: "I've just got to get some putts to drop and get a good Sunday round in and I really haven't been able to do that yet."
