Scottish Hydro joins forces with Glenmuir
Published: 20 May 2011
Golf apparel specialist Glenmuir has expressed its delight after confirming it is supporting a "groundbreaking" scheme by Scottish Hydro. The energy company wants to create a support network for five sponsored golfers in order to help them develop their skills and turn them into European Tour players.
Brian Mair, marketing director at Glenmuir, said the company is "right behind" the golfers involved in the initiative.
Gavin Dear and Chris Doak will be among the players to receive golf trousers, shirts and sweaters from the clothing specialist, along with Jamie McLeary, Craig Lee and Callum MacAulay.
"We are absolutely delighted to be supporting this great initiative to help develop young golfers into successful Tour professionals," Mr Mair commented.
The players' expenses will be paid by Scottish Hydro, as it wants to ensure their progression to this status goes smoothly.
This comes shortly after Glenmuir confirmed it is backing this year's St Andrews World Golf Forum in October.
