Golfer Sergio Garcia wants to lift The Open trophy in golf clothing after seeing Spain's footballers and tennis players enjoy an impressive summer. The Spaniard is normally pictured in golf apparel when he hits the links, but he tipped his hat to the country's football side by wearing the national shirt on a practice round at St Andrews.
He will be back in performance golf shirts when The Open kicks off on Thursday (July 15th) and he has suggested that the successes of his fellow countrymen could help his game.
"Winning The Open would be awesome the icing on the cake. I'm going to do my best I love this tournament and the crowds and I'm hoping I can get back into my form," added Garcia.
Spain won the Fifa World Cup at the weekend 1-0 against Holland - their first ever trophy in the competition - and Rafael Nadal secured the Wimbledon title for the second time in his career.
