Golf fans looking for a place to take a golfing holiday this year could find that a visit to St Andrews in Scotland is ideal.Writing for the Scotsman, Nick Drainey says that there are many things to do in Scotland which do not cost any money at all - including visiting the 18th hole at the world-famous golf course.
"It's amazing what is free in this well-to-do town," he states.
For golf fans who are also interested in film trivia, a visit to the West Sands could be worth it, as the film Chariots of Fire was partly filmed there.
Before heading off to Scotland, players may want to check that their golf apparel is suitable for the inclement weather which can often be seen on Scottish golf courses.
A new golf jumper or waterproof golf jacket could be the ideal cover-up on a cold day on the golf course.
