Grey golf clothing was chosen by Tiger WoodsGrey golf clothing was the ensemble of choice for Tiger Woods at the Quail Hollow Championship, which one columnist noted is helping him to avoid standing out from the crowd.

Writing for the Charlotte Observer, Tommy Tomlinson noted how the world number one's grey golf trousers and charcoal men's knitwear jumper made him seem "almost colourless".

The critic watched as Woods went on to make a few mistakes in his opening round at the prestigious competition, but a stunning pitch on the fourth hole belied his neutral golf clothing and showed him as the star that he is.

Jodi Richardson, a member of the watching crowd, was supportive of the golfer.

"Sometimes I overhear the kids at the school: 'Did you hear what Tiger did?' But you don't stop watching the game, just because he ... you know. Screwed up," she was quoted as saying.

Commenting on a BBC forum, golf enthusiast Sam Spencer-Ades suggested that Woods does not look like he is in his "comfort zone" yet.
