Tiger Woods is eager to compete again at the Memorial Tournament
Published: 03 June 2009
World Number One golfer Tiger Woods has revealed that he is extra motivated ahead the Memorial Tournament after missing the challenge last year due to injury. Various items of golf fashion will be on show for the PGA Tour event, which gets underway in the US tomorrow (June 4th) at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Woods has won the event three times, but had to miss the competitive field last year in order to undergo surgery on his knee.
According to Reuters, Woods said in his monthly newsletter that he is "really looking forward to competing again" at the tournament, before adding that it is "special" to him.
"I come to this place and the magic always happens for me here," he added. "This is by far the best place for me. If I retire, I need to build a house right on this golf course."
The American golfer will join a strong field for the event, including Britain's Paul Casey, Australian Geoff Oglivy, Fiji's Vijay Singh and Irish golfer Padraig Harrington.
