Tom Watson has spoken of his golf apparel prefrences

Legendary player Tom Watson has revealed his preferences in regard to golf apparel.

Speaking to Sean Hotchkiss of the Khaki Crusader blog, the veteran golfer was described as a "gracious man", whose "Midwestern charm" puts people "immediately at ease".

Watson revealed he has a particular love of polo golf slacks and spoke briefly about his ideal colour choices.

"I love wearing bright colours, but I tend to be more comfortable wearing understated pants with a bright top. I think throughout my career, that's been fairly consistent," he said.

Watson went on to claim that he has been able to keep his performance competitive by participating regularly on the Champions Tour, as well as crediting Stan Thirsk of Kansas City Country Club with turning him on to the game.

Earlier in the month, Mr Hotchkiss pointed to Raphael Jackquelin as a player to watch in terms of the stylish golf apparel he often sports on the fairways.
