Tom Watson wore pink golf apparel as he sunk a hole-in-one at the British OpenTom Watson appears to have brightened up the British Open with both his golf apparel and his prowess on the course, by sinking a hole-in-one while wearing pink golf apparel.

The sporting legend is still in contention for a record-equalling sixth Open win following events at the sixth hole.

His hole-in-one was scored from a distance of 169 yards and struck with a four iron.

The crowd cheered as the ball bounced neatly into the hole and the player celebrated by raising his hands in the air before turning to face the applauding audience.

As he made his way to the green, Watson joked: "[I] wish I could have seen it go in."

The 61-year-old wore a salmon shirt and matched the look with grey trousers, black shoes and a blue cap.

Watson was almost victorious in the British Open two years ago, when a strong performance saw him miss out on a victory following a play-off.
