The WGC Match Play Championship has seen many of the best players in the world putting on their golf clothing and doing battle on the greens, with some heavy casualties already.Ian Poulter has become the first defending champion to exit in the first round in nine years, beaten by Stewart Cink yesterday (February 23rd).
And the crowd at the Dove Mountain course also saw former World Number One Tiger Woods bowing out as he lost to Dane Thomas Bjorn.
It was a bad day all round for the Americans, who had four of the top ten seeds coming into the tournament but lost three on the first day, with only Phil Mickelson making it through to the last 32 as Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker were also left packing their bags.
Today's ties (February 24th) will include Martin Kaymer against Justin Rose, Luke Donald versus Edoardo Molinari and Graeme McDowell against Ross Fisher.
